What is the Mobile Thermal App Challenge?

This is a call to app developers all around the world to compete for cool prizes by creating a mobile app that uses the new FLIR Mobile SDK. Make your world simpler, more productive, and safer. Join the Hackathon event and have your ideas being showcased in front of the best in class tech audience!

Challenge categories

Are you ready for the challenge? These are the different categories you can choose from!

DIY Home Repair & Energy Efficiency Applications.

Mobile applications designed to enable homeowners and/or building managers to build, maintain or repair residential or commercial buildings and maximize their energy efficiency through the use of thermal imaging.

DYI apps

Connected Industry Applications.

Mobile applications designed to enable an industrial operator/inspector to use thermal imaging in their business processes to operate more effectively and efficiently (example: an app that offers equipment condition monitoring and/or predictive failure / maintenance features to facilitate monitoring (electro-)mechanical equipment to proactively identify equipment that has developed excess heat and take proactive action to avoid unscheduled repairs and downtime).

Digital Utility Applications.

Mobile applications designed to improve the effectiveness and/or efficiency of energy production, management, and/or delivery at local, regional, national, or global levels (examples: an app that uses thermal imaging to increase the effectiveness and efficiency of a solar energy installation by identifying faulty or inefficient panels, or one that minimizes power grid downtime by identifying potentially failing equipment for proactive replacement that avoids unplanned outages).

Digital utility apps
First responder

Connected First Responder Applications.

Mobile applications that enable first responders (law enforcement, firefighters, EMS providers, etc.) as individuals or groups to more effectively, efficiently, and safely do their work (examples: an app that enables a team of firefighters to collectively see through the smoke to identify hotspots in a fire to prioritize and address the most critical areas, or one that enables a team of law enforcement officers to operate more effectively and safely in dark/night-time situations).

Wildcard Applications.

An application that doesn’t fit into one of the four main categories but uses thermal imaging in a unique and powerful way to solve a clearly identified consumer or business problem. Wildcard apps are only eligible for the Grand Prize.
