Challenges

European Youth Energy Communication Hackathon

Increase consumer awareness on their energy consumption and impact

This challenge is about raising consumer self-awareness: how can we make people more aware of their own energy usage, energy consumption, and the impact this has on the planet? We need to find new and original ways to raise awareness and get people to look at their own behaviour.

European Youth Energy Communication Hackathon

Increase consumer awareness about energy efficiency and practices of how to save energy and reduce their CO2 footprint

This challenge is about affecting change and showing people how they can make a difference: looking specifically at carbon footprint and CO2 emissions, how can we more effectively encourage consumers to reduce their carbon footprint in their everyday lives?

European Youth Energy Communication Hackathon

Increase energy efficiency in buildings - construction materials, isolation or heating and cooling

This challenge is about changing the way we design and insulate our buildings to minimise improve our environmental impact: focusing on building construction and urban living, how can we encourage people in our communities to adapt the way they live and the materials they use to make everyday buildings (and our urban environment in general) more energy efficient?

European Youth Energy Communication Hackathon

Improve and facilitate a dialogue between local policy actors/public authorities and communities on energy transition

This challenge is about highlighting how this dialogue can, and why it should, be achieved: how can we foster dialogue between citizens and the policy-makers who can help affect change? How can we increase citizens’ awareness of (and spark their interest in) the need for this dialogue?

European Youth Energy Communication Hackathon

Develop narratives, outreach and communication techniques to address opposition and disinformation about Renewable Energy projects

This challenge is about combating mis-information and dis-information about Renewable Energy Sources (RES): how do we build a narrative that addresses the criticism against RES projects and empowers potential supporters of projects, to have an audible voice that is heard by politicians?
