Ireland CodeWeek Hackathon 2023
Hackathon Officially Over
Ireland CodeWeek Hackathon 2023
Ireland Code Week hackathon 2023 comes within the framework of EU Code Week.
EU Code Week is a grass-roots movement that celebrates creativity, problem-solving and collaboration through programming and other tech activities. The idea is to make programming more visible, to show young, adults and the elderly how you bring ideas to life with code, to demystify these skills and bring motivated people together to learn.
Ireland is one of six selected countries for the Code Week hackathon 2023.
Our hackathon will run over the 3 days from lunchtime on Monday 25th September through to the afternoon of Wednesday 27th September. It will provide an opportunity for students to design, develop and implement a solution to a real-world problem which will be revealed on the first day of the hackathon. There will be mentors on call to assist the teams and guest speakers to provide guidance on design and presentation skills.
The hackathon will run in hybrid form with the activities on Monday and Tuesday taking place online and the pitching taking place onsite in Microsoft DreamSpace on Wednesday.
Who is the hackathon for?
The hackathon is for Transition Year students with a specific emphasis on STEM, computer science, design, engineering, ICT, and other related fields. Students will work in teams of 4 – 5 and where possible gender balance will be encouraged thus promoting girls’ participation in the hackathon. To the extent possible, the teams should also encompass both technical and functional competencies.
How to apply
Schools can register an expression of interest for one or more teams of Transition Year students. (The application process is now closed)
